FASHIONS BY AIR
MODERN TRANSPORT In addition to the advantages which it offers to the business world, air transport is now proving of greater value very day to the world of fashion, accelerating the dispatch of the latest modes from Paris to London, and quickening the transit of new models to points far-distant from London along the Empire air lines. Only the other day, a new model hat for the autumn which had been evolved in London was, within 24 hours of its creation, en route by air, over 6000 miles, to Salisbury, South Africa. It arrived in eight and the store which displayed this new model was able to do so 20 days earlier than would have been possible by ordinary surface routes. Owing to the careful handling which each article receives eliminating any risk of crushing or similar damage, air transport provides an ideal means for the dispatch of fragile articles such as hats, frocks or other fashion goods. Fashion experts now fly reguarly from London to Paris to inspect the latest models, while specimens of new creations are, within a few hours of their production. flown from the
French capital to London and exhibited in the West End shops. More and more women buyers, too, are takingadvantage of the fact that they can fly to Paris in the morning ,do a round of shopping there, and be back in London the same evening.
