WAITAKI POWER

AVAILABLE EARLY NEXT YEAR (From Our Parliamentary Reporter) WELLINGTON, November 9. According to a statement made by the Minister of Public Works (Hon. J. Bitchener) to-day, power from Waitaki will be available in Dunedin if required early in the new year. The Minister said that the extension of the power lines to Dunedin and Southland had been delayed on account of the delay in deliveries of material from Australia. However, the major part of the line, which is carried partly on wooden poles and partly on steel towers, is now completed, and it is anticipated that it will be ready for use as far south as Dunedin early in ihe new year.
