THE WEATHER
Dominion Meteorologist. General situation—An anti-cyclone has been moving slowly eastwards off New Zealand and an intense depression is advancing across the Tasman Sea. Winds—Moderate to strong northerly rising to gale force in places. Seas (New Zealand waters) —Rough about Cook and Foveaux Straits and north of East Cape; elsewhere moderate, but rising soon south of Cape Egmont. Eastern Tasman Sea —Strong northerly winds to gales, with rough seas. Weather—Fair, warm and hazy generally, but clouding over, rain developing soon in Westland and the far south; later conditions becoming unsettled, squally in most districts, with fairly widespread rain. Mr F. L. Wooles. Wind—Moderate to strong northerly ruling. Weather —Fine and hot. Conditions In Timaru The weather in Timaru yesterday was beautifully fine. In fact, conditions were the most perfect that have been experienced for a long time.
