PRODUCE MARKETS DUNEDIN By Telegraph Press Association DUNEDIN. November 9. Little interest is being shown in the milling wheat market. In some districts sowing is still being carried on, but it is becoming late for these operations. The fowl wheat market remains steady, the current value being 3/9 a bushel sacks extra for wholesale lines. Small lots are selling at higher figures. Further shipments of oats have been sent away from Southland and this has decreased stocks held in the stores. Nevertheless there appears to be more than sufficient oats available for consumption in New Zealand. The present value for a A grade Gartons is 2/6 f.o.b. s.i. with B’s ruling at 2/3. Ruling offers in the country are 19 sacks extra on trucks for. A Gartons and 1/6 for B’s. Business in chaff is still confined to the sale of small lots ex the stores, and values remain unchanged at up to £4/5/- a ton sacks extra. Old potatoes of sound quality are arriving from surrounding districts and these are being placed at up to £3. The wholesale seeds market is very quiet. Some export business in ryegrass was done during the week but the prices realised show a reduction. Merchants prefer to sell rather than carry forward stocks to next season. It now appears that there will be ample stocks of ryegrass and further export business is required in order to work off the surplus. In other varieties there has been a scarcity of supplies. This refers more particularly to cocksfoot, brown top and chewings fescue, the market for which remains steady at the high values which have been ruling for some time.
