TRAVEL TIPS
Girls who have not travelled much or have never had a holiday except with their parents, sometimes experience a little difficulty when they venture forth on their own or stay at an hotel with one or two friends of their own age. To know exactly how things are done gives one poise and sets one free from any awkwardness and self-consciousness. Book your accommodation beforehand, after having first obtained a tariff. If you are touring and cannot book rooms in advance, find out the charges as soon as you arrive at the hotel, before you engage a room. The first thing to do is to sign the register, then the key of your room is handed to the porter so that he can take you and your luggage there. Always lock the door of your room when you leave it, and if you are going out deposit the key at the office, don’t take it out with you. Don’t forget to fetch it again when y,u come in. Lock your valuables in your suitcase, never leave them lying about in the room, although you lock the bedroom door when you leave it. Anything of especial value should be handed in at the office. In an hotel you are known as the number of your bedroom, so be sure to remember it! Any Instructions or complaints should be given to the bookkeeper at the office and give your number, not your name. As for clothes, don’t overdress.
