ELLSWORTH ’PLANE DAMAGED
BYRD PARTY SUFFERS DELAYS United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Conyrlght (Received November 8, 9.25 p.m.) MAGALLANES (Chile), November 7. The Norwegian exploring vessel Wyatt Earp, the base-ship for the Antarctic expedition financed by Mr Lincoln Ellsworth and headed by Sir Hubert Wilkins, arrived on Wednesday from Deception Island. “We came to get repairs for our ’plane, damaged during a South Polar storm.” Sir Hubert said. “Nobody was hurt. Mr Ellsworth remained at the island with Bert Balchen, Dr. Dana, and two other explorers. We are remaining at Magallanes at least long enough to secure repairs and the needed fuel oil. We expect to continue our explorations until next March.”
