Additional honours were conferred on Sir Charles Kingsford Smith today when he was made an honorary police captain. The airman shared the place of honour with Governor Merriam, at the Breakfast Club, although the reception was originally intended to celebrate Governor Merriam’s defeat of Mr Upton Sinclair. CAPTAIN TAYLOR'S PLANS RARE ACHIEVEMENT IN NAVIGATION United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright (Received November 8, 7.0 pm). NEW YORK, November 7. Captain P. G. Taylor arrived to-day. Commenting on his achievement of picking out Suva and Hawaii, Captain Taylor said that no radio aids to navigation were used on the flight, the only radio set in the ’plane being the transmitting apparatus. Captain Taylor explained he had accepted a place with the East Indian Air Line, and was already overdue at Singapore. He will sail for England on Friday.
