Herr Hitler, speaking for the first time after his meeting at Venice with Signor Mussolini, said: “We have hatched no plots about other nations, but have taken care that nobody else’s plots can destroy the German nation. Limitless as is our love of peace, and little as Germany desires war, we will also frantically uphold German freedom and the honour of our nation.” STABILISING FRONTIERS EFFECT OF ROME AGREEMENT United Press Association —By Electric Dlegraph -Qopyrlgnt (Received June 18, 7.0 p.m.) LONDON, June 18. The diplomatic correspondent of "The Daily Telegraph” says: “The agreement between Signor Mussolini and Herr Hitler on the Austrian question was not consigned to paper, but it means that both statesmen have undertaken to facilitate Austria’s return to normal domestic tranquillity. Nazi Germany thus renounces the actual incorporation of Austria within the frontiers of the Reich. Italy therefore is safeguarded against the unwelcome prospect of a frontier contiguous to Germany. It is expected that Dr. Dollfuss, the Austrian Chancellor, will shortly visit Signor Mussolini. GERMAN PRESS OUTBURST. STATUS OF NAZIS ACCLAIMED. United Press Association — By Eleetrlc Telegraph —Copyr* :ht LONDON, June 17. The Berlin correspondent of “The Sunday Times” says that the meeting between Signor Mussolini and Herr Hitler is hailed throughout Germany as a triumph for Herr Hitler. The Germany Press insists that Signor Mussolini received no monarch with greater deference and pomp than Herr Hitler. This, combined with the defiance of Britain, has restored the belief that the Nazis have made Germany one of the strongest nations in Europe.
