A terrible tragedy occurred at Pyawbwe, in Burma, on Christmas Day, when a gang of robbers broke into the house of Mr Bentinck. a European railway official, aged fllty. Mrs Bentinck raised the alarm, and the husband, who was In another room, rushed out and was cut to pieces by the intruders, with Burmese knives. The raiders then attacked Mrs Bentinck. who was seriously injured. They took £lO.
