MAKING PEACE IN CHACO

TASK REMITTED TO LEAGUE OF NATIONS. United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright (Received December 27, 7.30 p.m.) MONTE VIDEO, December 26. The Seventh Pan-American conference closed to-day. The final session took the important action of formally turning over the Chaco Peace negotiations to the League of Nations. Since the recent truce was announced, there have been charges from both sides of flagrant violations. The efforts to effect a permanent peace agreement have met with no apparent success. In the words of one speaker to-day: “We turn over to the League of Nations, what we are incapable of settling.” During the conference, many conventions of a social and cultural nature were adopted such as the ruling on women’s rights, but little concrete progress has been made towards the rehabilitation of inter-American trade.
