YOUNG PRINCESS’S LITTLE PRANK.
An amusing incident in which Clara Butt and His present Majesty King George V. were the principal actors occurred at a party given ,n honour of the King, then the Prince of Wales. During the evening. Miss Butt who had been engaged to sing at the affair, noticed that there was much hilarity coming from a group in one corner of the ballroom, including Prince CUorge and his sisters. Princess Victoria and Princess Maud. the two Princesses kept looking at her and then back at their brother until at last Prince George came across the floor to her and asked her to dance "I was sure " says Dame Clara, that the thing was a dare, and I knew Princess Mind 10 be very mischievous, and Prince George and I would have been a very ill-matched pair." With remarkable presence of inimi Miss Butt rejihed. ' I'm afraid, sir. either I am too tall, or you are too short.” The Prince retired amidst peals of laughter from his sisters.
