PETER PAN’S CIRCLIANS

CHRISTMAS SHIP TOYS. For months members of Peter Pan's Circle have been busy with needle, paste, scraps, hammers, saws, paint bushes and the like, preparing for their annual cargo of good things to gladden the hearts of other little people. A fine display of articles made by these busy young folks is on view in one of the windows of Mr Don’s Show Rooms. Stafford Street. On Saturday evening the gifts will be handed over to the hospitals. orphanages, and other organisations to be distributed to sick or needy children. The window presents a very colourful appearance. The scrap-txxiks contain gay pictures gathered from all sources, and the result is a collection that will brighten many young hearts during the Christmas season. Some of these books, which are filled with pictures and stories from “The Timaru Herald” Children’s Page, will be particularly interesting to members of the “Circle.” A fine display of all types of cloth animals is a very delightful feature; rabbits, dogs, elephants and so on, being herded together in great numbers. The “Topsy” dolls are, perhaps, the best lot so far made by members of the “Circle.” Scraps of all kinds have been called into service in the making of these quaint playthings. A large number of children have very appropriately concentrated on useful presents. Busy knitting needles have made all kinds of garments for children. These should be very welcome in times such as these. It would be impossible to describe or enumerate all the trolleys, dobbins, dolls’ furniture and other childish delights displayed. A visit to the window would be a much more satisfactory way of discovering the industry of these industrious little people.
