THE POWER OF THOGHT
ADMITTING AILMENTS. If we have ailments, we have made them. If we have made them we can unmake them, remarks an English writer. Perhaps not in a day, nor In a week, nor in a month, but eventually we can, through persistence, bring our body and mind into a superb state of vitality and health. It requires patience to undo the years of wrong thinking and living. Watch your thought processes for a while. How many thought thieves of your health and happiness are you daily welcoming into your mind. You would not open your house to a burglar; in fact, you take every precaution to keep him out. And yet, scarcely an hour passes that you do not allow negative thought of worry, discouragement, etc., to steal away your vitality and happiness. What is more, if you wish to be successful, efficient, charming, and superbly healthy, you will have to learn to control your mental machinery. So who not commence now?
Two thoughts can’t occupy the same mind at the same time. Every time a thought of gloom crops up, change it to a thought of sunhine. If you are given to worry’, sit down and reason the matter out. Has worry ever helped you? No, instead, worry only makes wrinkles, causes indigestion and sleeplessness, robs you of your beauty and makes you such a dreary specimen of humanity that people don't want you around. It deprives you of health, success, friends, and happiness, so why worry? Use a little mental surgery and cut it out.
Like Attracts Like. If you will look about, you will soon find that like attracts like. Remember this, for it is the secret of all success, happiness and health. You can travel all over the world in searcli of happiness. You may find distraction, but happiness is a state of mind, as are also health and success. So our efforts must be devoted to building the states of consciousness that will attract the thing we desire. The outer is but a picture of the inner. The following phrase sums up the matter perfectly: “The thoughts of to-day become the dreams of to-night, the actions of tomorrow, the character of the future. And our character determines our destiny.” Through past processes we have created ourselves as we are today. If this creation does not please us, we can change it by willingly turning our faces to the light and learning to refuse to allow anxiety, worry, jealousy, or pettiness and selfishness to poison our systems and our lives.
