FAREWELL PARTY

About 140 residents of Roscwill assembled at the residence of Mr and Mrs Frank Squires, "The Cliffs,” to bid them farewell on the eve of their departure for their new home at Waikakihi. A very enjoyable evening was spent in dancing, singing, and card playing, the spacious ballroom being beautifully decorated and the floor in perfect order. Mr Beckihgsale occupied the chair, and set the ball rolling by all hands joining in singing "Pack Up Your Troubles.” Music was supplied by Mrs Patterson. Mrs Squires. Miss Ashby, and Mr Fraser. Mr Munro played an extra. Mr W. King officiated as M C.. and all went merry for young and old. During he evening songs were given by Miss McKay, Mis; Ashby, and Mr King, pianoforte solos by Naomi Squires and Master King, recitations by Mrs Mayo, end dancing b\ r-omi and Gainor Squires. After supper. Mrs P. For*, r. < behalf of the residents of Roscwill. presented Mr and Mrs Squires with a cheque with which to purcha thing in recognition of vheir kind hospitality.

Mr Squires thanked all for their kind thought of appreciation towards Mrs Squires and himself. He sai< h< thought he was no oik . but judging by the large number that, had turned up that night he felt he was s .url dy H* j did not think he deserved all th go< d j things said of him; lie had only done j what he considered is Ills duty. !
