H. Thomas, who declared that Britain could claim that the worst was definitely over, and it was now on the certain road to recovery. "Concrete evidence of the turning of the tide of national prosperity" is how “The Daily Mall” describes the Re-gistrar-General's report showing that 35,000 more marriages occurred in the third quarter of 1933 than the preceding one, and 16.000 more than in the corresponding quarter of 1932.
