The Government of Gilbert and Ellice Islands Colony, which comprises a group of small islands in the Western Pacific with a population of 34.000, offered the sum of £750, as a contribution towards the cost of the defence services of the Empire. The offer has been gratefully accepted. and the High Commissioner for the Western Pacific has been asked to convey the sincere appreciation of His Majesty’s Government of the United Kingdom.
