PETROL IGNITES
By Telegraph—Press Association WANGANUI. December 7. There was some excitement at the Marton dental clinic this afternoon when a bucket containing benzine ignited from a gas jet burning a few feet away. Nurse Cochran rushed for assistance and a man who was passing tried to smother the flames with a mat, which also became ignited. Another passerby, N. Meredith, took off his coat, which he pushed into the bucket. Both his arms were immersed in the flaming benzine and he suffered severe burns extending to the elbows. After being attended by a doctor he was conveyed by ambulance to the Wanganui Hospital. The fire was extinguished without much damage being done.
