In the Police Court to-day Edwin Coupa Gorton was fined £2 and costs for delivering to prisoners in Puparna prison, a parcel containing tobacco, contrary to the regulations. The Magistrate said that he was afra 5 d a few' cases of this nnture were occurring, and, in future, they w'ould be dealt with severely. Tobacco given promiscuously was a danger to thj discipline cf the prison. If tobacco was smuggled in other things might be also smuggled in.
