NEW ZEALANDERS JOIN EXPEDITION. »y Telegraph—Press Association WELLINGTON, December 7 According to latest advice the Jacob Ruppert, the Byrd Expedition ship, may leave on Sunday afternoon, but she may be delayed for the American mail due by the Maunganui on Monday morning from San Francisco. If this is not done, no mail will be received by the expedition until the Bear reaches the Bay of Whales. Since the vessel arrived seven New Zealanders have joined the expedition in various capacities, several as winchmen. Three more experienced seamen are to be engaged to-morrow, whose qualifications must include a knowledge of seas in the polar regions and. if possible, experience on the ice. More than 100 applications have been received from men and youths to join the expeditlc ,
