TOTI DAL MONTE
There is a possibility that Toti Dal Monte, the plump little Italian opera star, who was married in Sydney some years ago, and was such a favourite both in Australia and in New Zealand, may return to this country next year. Though married under such auspicious beginnings Sydney has never seen a wedding since on such a scale as that at St. Mary’s Cathedral when little Toti wedded her fellow artist, de Muro Lomanto —the songstress did not find the happiness she sought in matrimony. Not so long ago the singers were legally separated in Italy. There is one child of the marriage. little Maria. In a letter to a Sydney friend. Toti said the difficulty in regard to the child had been solved. Maria spends two months with her father, and then she returns to her mother for the same period. When writing Toti Dal Monte was preparing for the season at La Scala in Milan. A heavy season in opera has been arranged for her this year. Rome, Naples. Genoa. Venice and Trieste are other cities that will hear her liquid notes.
