MAIN SCHOOL.

MEETING OF COMMITTEE. The monthly meeting of the Timaru Main School Committee was held last evening, Mr A. Carnegie presiding. Headmaster's Report, The headmaster (Mr W. W. Garton), reported that although there were odd cases of sickness in the school, there was nothing serious, and the attendance averaged 94.2, 93.6, 95.3 and 95.8 per cent for the past four weeks, giving an average attendance of 549.5. The proficiency examination had been held, but the results were not yet to hand. Mr Garton extended seasonal greetings to the committee, and thanked them for their assistance during the past year. Mr G. N. Templar forwarded his resignation as a member of the committee, thanking members for their courtesy at all times, and expressing best wishes for the future welfare of the school. The resignation was accepted with regret, and it was decided to place on record appreciation of Mr Templar’s work as a member of the committee.

The secretary of the Main School Old Boys’ Association (Mr C. R. Home), conveyed congratulations to the committee and staff for thenyear’s work, and also wished them the compliments of the season. The secretary, Mr Castle, was instructed to reciprocate the greetings.

The headmaster was instructed to procure dux medals. It was decided to hold the school break-up ceremony on December 16th, and to Invite the Mayor and Mayoress (Mi- and Mrs T. W. Satterthwaite), the president of the Old Boys’ Association, and the Rev. H. T. Peat to attend. Arrangements were left in the hands of the chairman and headmaster.

After a report had been given by Mr F. R. Dennison, it was decided to purchanse a power mower. Mr Dennison was accorded a vote of thanks for his interest in the matter.
