Plans have been completed for a bridge across the Severn at Newtham, where the river narrows to a width of 400 yards. The scheme, which is estimated to cost £250.000. is being financed privately, and only awaits the sanction of the appropriate authorities. The bridge will be 1410 ft long, and will be carried on 32 piers. It will represent a saving of 32 miles for traffic from England to South Wales.
