OFFICERS ELECTED. By Telegraph—Press Association. WELLINGTON, September 29. Following a meeting of importers on Tuesday, Mr Edwin Salmond, of Wellington, has been elected first president of the New Zealand Importers Federation. Mr H. G. Thomson, of Auckland, as vice-president, and Mr T. Lisle secretary. A motion was carried that the Government be urged to adopt for duty purposes the par conversion rate of exchange between gold and sterling countries. Another resolution urges the arrangement of a reciprocal trade treaty with Australia, to operate more favourably in the interest of New Zealand.
