PEEL FOREST

MOTOR CYCLE RUN. On Sunday, a combined run of the South Canterbury and Ashburton Motor Cycle Clubs was held at Peel Forest. The South Canterbury riders met the Ashburton members at the Rangitata bridge at 11.30. and then proceeded to the appointed ground—six miles above Peel Forest, on the Mt. Peel estate. During the afternoon, various events and competitions, including football, acceleration tests, miniature relay race, and a hill climbing test, were held. Although the weather became very cold in the afternoon, a good number of interested spectators were present. THE W.E.A. The final meeting for the year of the Peel Forest branch of the W.E.A. was held In the library on Monday evening. There was an attendance of fifteen. The last two acts of the play “The War God,” by Israel Zangwill, were read, and discussed. The remainder of the evening took the form of a conversazione. Mr D. G. Rutherford (secretary) presented a balance sheet, that showed that the class had ended up with a credit balance of £2/11/-. Supper was then dispensed by the ladies, and the function closed with a hearty vote of thanks to Mr and Mrs P. Scott, and Mr D. G. Rutherford.
