TECHNICAL COLLEGE

ANNUAL STEEPLECHASE. On Wednesday the boys of the Technical College ran then- annual steeplechase. The course, of about 2i miles, was from Anzac Square, via Craigie Avenue and the Main South Road, to Saltwater Creek. Paddocks were then crossed, and the return journey was made via Woodlands Road and Hassall Street to the starting point at Anzac Square. All boys fit took part, and the 84 who started all completed the course, 77 finishing in under 25 minutes. , , G. Hutt, A. Dix and A. Smith set the pace, and remained in the lead with A Spavin, E. Brown, and R. Thomson not far off. In Hassall Street, Hutt went to the front, and after a good final sprint, finished with a big lead, in 15min. 40sec.. A. Smith being second, and A. Dix third. Hutt’s time sets a new record for the course, the previous record for a slightly longer course being that made by G. Cameron in 1930 (16min. 28sec.). A. Smith, A. Dix, E. Brown, and R.
