Described by the Police as a ' nuisance around camps,” Albert Thomas Sims Evans (22), employed in the State Forest Sendee, Kaingaroa Plains, pleaded guilty to half a dozen charges of theft from his mates in camp, including two robberies from postal packets. For the last two he v. .is committed to the Supreme Court for sentence and on the others he got twelve months’ hard labour. Evans has a long list of previous convictions since early boyhood. FALSE PRETENCES. By Telegraph—Press Association WELLINGTON, Sept. 29. On a false representation that he had secured a job at Parliament House. William George Houghton (431 succeeded in obtaining 5/- from Canon Percival James. He was convicted to-day and sentenced to probation for twelve months and ordered to make a refund.
