Despite the refusal of New Zealand to co-operate, the Australian Rugby Unions have decided to persevere with their request for a dispensation to vary the rule so that the kick into touch on the full, may be allowed only from within the 25 yards, or when a penalty is awarded. WEST COAST BEAT WELLINGTON TEAM By Telegraph—Press Association. GREYMOUTH, Sept. 28. West Coast defeated Wellington by 17 to 15. Playing in ideal conditions, the visitors led by 11 to 6 at the interval, but the Coasters lasted better, and gained the lead with the last score of the day. The winners’ try-getters were Martyn (2), L. Hughes, R. King and Schroeder, Martyn converting one try. For Wellington, O’Connor and Wilson scored tries; Masters converted one try, and kicked a penalty goal and a field goal. CANTERBURY V. WEST COAST. The Canterbury Rugby team to play in a special match with the West Coast on Saturday is:— Full-back: A. W. Roberts. Three-quarters: N. Dunshea, G. D. Innes, W. J. Brown. Five-eighths: C. J. Oliver, R. Hazelhurst. Half-back: A. N. Bouterey. Forwards: R. K. King, J. E. Manchester, C. H. Perkins, G. J. Howell, G. W. Thompson, A. Bowes, W. Pease, A. I. Cottrell. On the last occasion in which the teams met (for the Ranfurly Shield) the referee made a serious blunder in keeping time, which was greatly to Canterbury’s advantage. POLICE AND COURT TEAM.
