MIDNIGHT ESCAPE.
RUSH FROM* : BURNING HOUSE. By Telegraph—Press Association AUCKLAND, March 23. Awakened by the crackling of flames, the occupants of a house at Stanley Point Road escaped from their burning home in their night attire, ac the height of a gale last night. Practically nothing was saved. The occupants of the house were Mr R. L. Cleland (owner); a married daughter, Mrs A. R. Cleland Pottie: Miss Doris Cleland, and Mrs Cleland Pottle’s seven-year-old daughter. They when the house was a sea of flames, and had time to take with them only a few personal effects. Mrs Cleland Pottie intended leaving Wellington by the Rangitiki for England to-morrow. Her luggage had already been sent to Wellington. The house was insured for £ISOO, and the contents for £550.
