RAINPROOF STOCKINGS. The Queen and Princess Mary each bought a pair of British-made rainproof stockings in London recently, states the “Daily Mail.’’ They were shopping in Piccadilly, and after buying a great many Christmas presents, came across a display of these stockings. On learning that they were of British manufacture each asked that a pair should be sent with her purchases. The Queen’s present list was entirely practical. She bought such useful things as rubber spongebags, gardening aprons, and a new type of felt handbag. She chose with special care two pigskin holdalls with zip fasteners. A jig-saw puzzle, designed like a globe, and showing all the countries of the world, was understood to be for her grand-chil-dren.
