NEW DIRECTOR APPOINTED. By Telegraph—Press Association:. Dunedin, January 26. The New Zealand University Council to-day appointed Dr. Arthur A. Andrew as Director of the Otago School of Mines, and Professor of Mining, in succession to Professor James Park, who retired last year. Dr. Andrew is a graduate of the Otago School of Mines, with a notable scholastic career, and wide experience in all parts of the world. He carried out a mineral survey of Nyassaland Protectorate for the Colonial Office in 1906-1909, and for 14 years was with the Shell Oil Group in Europe, East Indies and America. He also has had experience in South America, New Zealand and Egypt. Dr. Andrew was selected out of 14 applicants. He is 50 years of age, and was born in the Catlins River district of South Otago. He was educated at Dunedin at the Otago Boys’ High School, the University of Otago, and Birmingham University.
