LABOUR’S MEETING OF PROTEST.
To the Editor of the " Tlmaru Herein. Sir, —Kindly permit me, as chairman of the meeting addressed by Mr H. E. Holland, M.P. leader of the Labour Party, in the Town Hll, Wellington, on Wednesday evening, March 11, to point out how wholly inadequate the Press Association’s report circulated to the dally newspapers was, particularly in reference to the size of the meeting, The statement that every seat in the large Town Hall was occupied, which appeared in the report, was quite correct as far as it went, but it did not give an accurate idea of the numbers addressed by Mr Holland. No mention was made of the fact announced by me from the chair that, in addition to the large Town Hall being crowded, with a large number standing, the Concert Chamber was also Ailed to its capacity by an audience which listened to Mr Holland's speech by means of loud-speakers. In addition, hundreds of people congregated outside the Town Hall where again they had the privilege of listening to Mr Holland, .The number at people addicosed on
the occasion was nearly 4,600, a record political meeting for Wellington. Surely this fact was worth mentioning in the Press Association’s report, if only as a news item. —I am, etc. P. FRASER. Secretary, New Zealand Parliamentary Labour Party. Wellington, March 16.
