The jubilee meeting of the Wa mate Racing Club will be held to-day, the first race being timed to start at 12.30. With the exception of two races, good fields appear to be assured, and in the Jubilee Cup the acceptance list comprises thirteen horses. A fair number of horses have dual engagements, and there will be some doubt concerning the composition of some of the fields until the starters are displayed. Thorndale has dropped out of the High weight Handicap, and Otauru Lass may be an absentee. Giggleswick, Ra- - meses and Quinopal may elicit most .1 support. There are some unknown t quantities in the Trial Plate, and most attention may be devoted to Night Re-

cital and Positive. In the Morven Trot some good pacers have made their entry to the winning list in past years, and there may be another smart maiden in this year's field. Lord Antrim’s form at Washdyke will ensure him solid support, and Pr'nce Wrack and Black Watch may run well. There will be a small field in the President’s Handicap, and Waving Com and Charmeuse may be the popular fancies. Caterpillar will be very dangerous if she happens to get out smartly, as she i races well in front. The mile trip In j the Waitangi Hack Handicap will | trouble some of the field, and Giggleswick (if reserved), Pharaoh and Fair Money may do best. The running in the Morven Trot will throw light on the prospects for the Hook Trot, as the fields will be much the same :n each race. The winner appears likely to come from the place-getters in the earlier race. Miss Mercia is a doubtful starter in the Stewards’ Handicap, and as all the other acceptors except First Raid have prior engagements during the day, the runners cannot be detailed. First Ra d is sure to be a popular candidate.

The principal attraction of the day is the Waimate Jubilee Cup. Thirteen horses figure on the card, and even with Miss Mercia. Night Effort and High Speed uncertain starters in th’s event, a nice field will be available. Black Duke raced at Trentham on Tuesday, and will be at a disadvantage as a result. Money Mine has not struck form so far this season, and Glenrowan, Topere, Shortly and Admiral Drake, who have run good races, have not been consistent. Straightcourse won the Peninsula Cup last week, and may carry the Clifford colours (which have not been seen on the course s'nce Taskmaster was beaten by Reval in the Cup about 20 years ago), with credit. Red Racer has been racing consistently without much luck, and he may effect a surprise. The card is as follows: —
