BOOKMAKERS FINED. By Telegraph—Press Association NELSON, February 6. James A. Anderson pleaded guilty to visiting the streets for the purpose of betting. He was fined £25 on each of two charges. Harry McNab pleaded not guilty to a charge of frequenting Bridge Street for betting purposes. He was convicted and fined £4O. Security for appeal was fixed at £45. PETROL “MAKER” CONVICTED. By Telegraph—Press Association AUCKLAND, February 6. Gordon Donald Crawford, a young Auckland chemist, was convicted at the Supreme Court to-day of false pretences,’ arising out of representations that he had discovered a method of making synthetic petrol. He was remanded for sentence.
