If lemons are warmed before they are used nearly double the quantity of juice is obtained. Old chamois leather gloves can be used in many ways. After the fingers and buttons are removed the gloves Bhould be cut open and sewn together for wrapping up jewellery or silver. The fingers should be kept for tying Over the stoppers of bottles. Fuller’s earth is excellent for removing stains from a carpet. Mix to a paste with cold water and spread over the spot. When thoroughly dry remove the paste and give the carpet a good brushing. To prevent raisins and currants from pinking to the bottom of a cake warm them well in the oven before adding them to the mixture. Remove ironmould marks on cotton goods by holding the material taut in the steam arising from water boiling over the fire and then rubbing the mark gently with a freshly cut lemon. Sheets and table cloths are best hung by folding six or seven inches over the line and then pegging up the two lower corners. When boiling a pudding in a cloth put an old plate at the bottom of the saucepan to prevent the pudding cloth sticking.
