Charles J. Carter (Carter the Great) writes from San Francisco:—“l am building up a number of new illusions, some of which will be most astounding, especially one which I purpose calling ‘Relativity,’ utilising Einstein’s famous theory as applied to the annihilation of Infinitude, wherein parallelograms are made to bear invisibly human freight in live torpedoes which are shot from an immense cannon through solid steel walls, without in any way leaving an orifice or hole through which they pass and writhout in any way injuring the occupants of the torpedoes—which will be very pretty girls. This number I reckon upon being one of the most marvellous effects in modern necromancy, and quite incomparable with any other illusory device in this or any other time.” Mr Carter has recently returned to California after a lengthy tour of the Continent. He contemplates a return visit to New Zealanr shortly.
