CASUALTIES.
FATAL CAPSIZE. By Telegraph—Pres? Assoclatiau. WELLINGTON, Oct. 7. Robert Semple, eldest son of Mr R. Semple, M.P., was fatally injured in a car accident last night. Semple was driving a small- sports car, and was accompanied by a man named Stanley Holmes. The car capsized on a Liidge near the Glenside store, between Johnsonville and Tawa Flat shortly after 11.30. The car was badly damaged, and the seat had to be taken out before the driver could be extricated. He was attended to by Dr Aitken and removed to hospital, where he died. Holmes escaped injury. Semple was married man with cne child. He arrived from Gisborne cn Saturday to take up a job as a driver in the Titahi bus service. SHEPHERD KILLED. *sy Telegraph—Press Association. OAMARU, October 7. A middle-aged shepherd, named Archibald Muir, single, was found dead on the property of Mr L. Kelcher, Hakataramea Valley, yesterday afternoon, having apparently been thrown from a horse he was riding. At an inquest to-day, a verdict was returned that deceased died from head injuries caused by a fall from a horse. NATURAL CAUSES. By Telegraph—Press Association. NEW PLYMOUTH, October 7. At the inquest on Harold Percy Brentnall, clerk of works, on the New Plymouth High School building, who died in a motor car while returning from a fishing expedition on Sunday, a verdict was returned of death from natural causes. DEATH BY POISONING. By Telegraph—Pra»a Association. AUCKLAND, October 7. The death is announced of Mrs R. A. Singer (37), wife of a well-known solicitor. She was a talented musician (piano, violin and viola). Under her maiden name—Dorothy Rose Nichol —she was chorus mistress for Messrs J. C. Williamson. She leaves a girl of 11 and a boy of 9. The Coroner held an inquest into the death. Evidence showed that deceased had mistaken poison, which was contained in a brandy bottle, for brandy. A verdict of accidental death was returned.
