LEVY ON SALARIES.
YIELDING LARGE SUMS. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) SYDNEY, April 10. The Government’s scheme to impose a levy on wages and salaries is estimated to return between £2,000,000 and £3,000,000 a year. It has not yet been decided what the rate will be, but Ministers suggested 2d or 3d in the £ should be imposed, with a large rate on large salaries.
