BEER STRIKE
LARGER MEASURE DEMANDED. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.? PERTH, February 3. A beer strike is in progress at the State hotel at Gwalia, where a black ban has been placed on it owing to a charge of 6d for a ten ounce measure. The men demand 12 ounces. The trade is at a standstill. The strikers also refuse to accept a tenounce measure in Leonora. AN APPRECIABLE DROP. CONSUMPTION IN NEW SOUTH WALES. (United Press Association—By Electrle Tel egraph—Copyright.) (Received February 3, 8.45 p.m.) SYDNEY, February 3. The consumption of alcoholic liquors in New South Wales is falling appreciably, owing to the depression and increased prices. The sale of beer during December was exactly 204,575 gallons less than during the corresponding month of 1923. Sales of spirits were hardly so pronounced, yet were substantial enough to cause the liquor trade the utmost concern.
