SHEFFIELD SHIELD MATCH. RYDER SAVES VICTORIA. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) (Received February 4, 12.35 a.m.) BRISBANE, February 3. In the Sheffield Shield match against Queensland, Victoria, in the first innings made 313. Ryder, who made 168, gave a couple of difficult chances, but otherwise batted forcefully, and saved his side. Hurwood took 4 for 88, Hornibrook 3 for 87, and Thurlow 2 for 50. Queensland in the second innings have lost 2 for 74 (Benstead, not out 53).
