In the Sheffield Shield match against Queensland, Victoria, in the first innings made 313. Ryder, who made 168, gave a couple of difficult chances, but otherwise batted forcefully, and saved his side. Hurwood took 4 for 88, Hornibrook 3 for 87, and Thurlow 2 for 50. Queensland in the second innings have lost 2 for 74 (Benstead, not out 53).
