WELLINGTON HOSPITAL.
INCREASE IN FEES. By Telegraph—Press Association. WELLINGTON, Sept. 27. By 9 to 3, the Hospital Board has raised the fees from 9s to 12s per day for adults, and from 4s 6d to 6s for children. Some of the scales for special treatment, such as X-rays, are also raised. The chairman said the total cost or the hospital was £228,538 last year. The expenses had continually gone up. The maintenance per bed had increased in six years from £l7O 18s to £l9O 12s. Out patients had increased from 12.7<7 to 22,609. Interest charges had gone from £3456 to £16.735. The opposition came from members who believed in a free hospital for all, and that the country at large should find the cost.
