THE WEATHER The rain which was in evidence on Tuesday and Wednesday was yesterday replaced by sunshine, with clear blue sky, the temperature containing a slight suspicion of frost. The rainfall for Tuesday and Wednesday was approximately one inch. SCHOOLS’ FOOTBAL. On Monday a match was played at Methven between teams from the Geraldine District High School and the Methven District High School, resulting in a win for Geraldine by 14 to 3. The game, which was fast throughout, was played in four spells of fifteen minutes each. Mr Burrows was the referee. BASKETBALL. In basketball matches between girl pupils of the Geraldine and the Methven District High Schools, the scores were as follow:—Geraldine A. 15; Methven A. 0. Geraldine B. 6; Methven B. 0. MUNICIPAL PICTURES. “Ramona,” Dolores Del Rio’s first United Artists production, has been booked by the Municipal Theatre for showing next Saturday and Monday. In the supporting cast are found such artists as Warner Baxter, Roland Drew, Vera Lewis and Michael Visaroff. “Ramona” is a tale of love in nineteenth century California. It Is a story of white men's greed. It 13 the romance of a halfbreed girl and her Indian lover. In bringing the Jackson novel to the screen, Carewe has done sometning worth while.
