NOMINATIONS FOR COMMITTEES. Nominations for seats on the Committee of the South Canterbury Jockey Club, and the Timaru Trotting Club, closed with the secretary yesterday. No election will be necessary for the Jockey Club Committee, only the required number of nominations being received. Those nominated were: Messrs A. S. Elworthy, T. R. Rhodes, H. Lowry, C. L. Orbell and F. D. McGovern. Those nominated for the Trotting Club Committee were: Messrs P. G. Allen, F. Carter, H. F. Morton, A. P. Greenfield, T. H. Ivey and J. Gilmore. There being one more than the required number, an election will be

necessary. Only financial members will be allowed to vote. Glendowie is an unlikely starter at Trentham, and will probably be reserved for the Grand National Steeplechase. Mr F. C. Pratt, who was removed to Ashburton Hospital, after Matalpuke fell in the Dromore Steeplechase, was operated on for a fracture of the skull, and is now reported to be making satisfactory progress. Nominations for the South Canterbury Hunt meeting are due by 8 p.m. on Thursday.
