GISBORNE TRAMS.
PROPOSAL TO SCRAP SERVICE. Bf T«lß(r*pU—Pre»« Association. GISBORNE, May 2. After receiving a report showing that the municipal trams made a loss ot £2077 last year, plus £2047 interest on loans, and that the Council’s buses for the same period showed a profit of £269, the Borough Council resolved that, as the result of the loss at which tho iraniway system was being run, and Urn tho immediate necessity to expend a largo amount on rolling stock and track, and the inadequate service system rendered io the public, the Council should immediately take all necessary steps, and apply for an order-in-council to discontinue the entire system, and that a poll of ratepayers should bo taken immediately for a !oau of £20,000 to .»ca u ir<3 buses.
