• An excellent sandwich can be made by spreading over slices of sponge cake a mixture of pounded fruit and whipped cream. ' This, 'is a sandwich that will be greatly appreciated by the children. Spread■ generous quantities of ripe banana 'over thinly-cut slices of brown _ bread, and sprinkle with find 1 y-ch op ped walnuts. A cheap and savoury filling can be made as follows: —Ileat a little butter to a cream; then add a pinch .each of currjf powder, ' black pepper, ground ginger, and 'a little finelychopped parsley. These, give to the butter a piquancy that.will be greatly appreciated. ... A sandwich-.'that is sure to find favour alike’-by-children .and grownups is made by sprinkling 'thinly-cut slices of buttered bread with - grated cheese and stoned raisins.
