EMPIRE TRADE.
TARIFF RESTRICTIONS DISCUSSED. By Cable—Press Association —Copyrlfht " The Times.” (Received April 28, 7.0 p.m.) LONDON, April 28. “The Times,” in a leader, on the annual meeting of the Association of British Chambers of Commerce, pointto the consideration given resolutions drawing attention to the so-called damage to British trade, owing to tho increased Dominions’ Customs duties. The paper declares that propaganda in favour of the sale of the Dominions’ products in Britain is stultified thereby; nevertheless, in view of the tacit assumption that tariffs are preventing exports, it should be widely known that the figures do not support this suggestion. Last year the Empire took 48.7 of the total British exports, compared with 7.2 in 1913.
