HOCKEY.

SOUTH CANTERBURY ASSOCIATION. ANNUAL MEETING. At the annual meeting of the South Canterbury Hockey Association, there were present:—Mr A. W. Stead (chairman), Misses Guthrie Thomson (Stafford), Quested, Orr (Celtic), Messrs Dobier, Jones (Cambridge), Henderson, Bowie (Trinity), Davies, Quartermain (South End), Brett, Blackmore (Geraldine sub-Association), Worthington, and Hughes (Winchester). The annual report was read and adopted. The balance sheet, which showed a credit balance of £27 5s 5d also was read and adopted. The chairman referred to the loss the Association had sustained in the removal from the district of the secretary (Mr W. Gow). It was decided to write to Mr Gow thankmg him for his good work in connection with hockey in South Canterbury.. The resignations of Messrs Leslie (auditor), and Worthington (treasurer) , were accepted with regret. Special mention was made of the assistance given by these gentlemen. Votes of thanks were passed to the following for their assistance during the year:—Messrs G. P. Wood, D. N. Harper, J. Metliven, A. Worthington, Leslie, and the Park Bowling Club. The election of officers resulted as follows: —President, Mr G. P. Wood; vice-presidents, Messrs L. Bennington, W. G. Hawkey, F. Smith, W. Gow, Gibson, and Dr. N. K. Cox; lion, auditor, Mr A. L. Hudson; lion, secretary, Miss L. Quested; lion, treasurer, Mr G. Hughes; delegate to N.Z.A., Mr W. A. Stead; delegate to N.Z.L.H.A., Mr F. Butcher; management committee, Messrs Davies, Jones, Quartermain, Stead, Dobier, Worthington, Bowie, Misses Thomson, Guthrie, Orr and officers of the Association. It was stated that Craighead Girls School had adopted hockey as their winter game, and that they would probably enter the competition at an early date. It was decided to hold the first meeting of the committee on Tuesday next.
