(From Our Own Correspondent.) BASKETBALL CLUB. Tho annual meeting of the Young "Women's Basketball Club was held on Tuesday evening, Miss Manson being in the chair. The annual report and balance sheet wore read and adopted. Tho election of officers resulted as follows:—Patron, Mrs G. B. Cartwright; president, Miss Stella Goodman ; vice-presidents, Mesdaines .1. Gunnion, G. H. Clements, Miss Davcy, Miss Brown, Sins V. Nicholas, Mrs J. N. Watson, and Miss Manson: secretary, Miss M. Washington (rc-elected); treasurer. Miss H. Goodman ; captaim Miss L. Kcllahan; vice-captains, I). "Webb and B. Meelc; general committeo to communicate with visiting teams, Misses W. Washington, J). Webb, L. Kollaban, and It. Meek. It was decided that the season open on May 5, and that a challenge team will Ih> sent to the High School, to play the A and B teams. It was also agreed that the same colours be used agan this year, navy blue and gold. PLUNKET SOCIETY. The annual mooting of the Temuka sub-branch of the Royal New Zealand Society for the Health of \\ omen and Children was held in the Temuka Borough Council Chambers on Monday last. The president (Mrs Armitage) presided over a good attendance of members. REPORT AND BALANCE-SHEET. The eighteenth animal report and balance-sheet was submitted and adopted on tho motion of Mrs Armitage, seconded bv ill's Capper. The balance-sheet showed principal items on the receipts side: Balance 31st Maroll, 1926, £290, Geraldine County Council £3O, Geraldine County Council, account building fund £SO, 'Temuka Borough Council £2O, simp proceeds £B4 14s 6d; total £485 7s 4d. Principal items of expenditure were: Temuka Library building fund £SO, Central Committee £l7O, baby scales £lO ss, sundry expenses £35 7s, balance in P. 0.5.8. £212, cash in hand £T 9s lid; total £485 7s 4d.

ANZAC DAY. At a meeting of the representatives of the Borough Council, Returned Soldiers’ Association, and ministers of tho town, held in Mr W. F. Evans’s office on Wednesday afternoon, arrangements were made in connection with the citizens’ commemoration service to bo held on Anzac Day. There were- present besides tho ministers—Messrs W. F. Evans, (who presided), and T. Gunnion, representing the Council, and Major AVliite and Air 1). O’Connor for tho R.S.A. An upology wus received for the absence of the Mayor (Air G. B. Cartwright), who was attending a deputation to tho Minister of Education that day. Arrangements similar to those of last year were made, the Rev. G. N. AA'ateou agreeing to give tho address. The procession will assemble at Gunnion’s corner at 2 p m., starting fifteen minutes later, the service being timed to commence at 2.30, at the Soldiers’ Memorial in the Domain. Alajor White was appointed as marshal and the 'Temuka Pipe Band, as well as the massed Alunicipal Hand and Salvation Army Bands, is to be invited to take part. Should tho weather prove unfavourable, the service will be held in tho Dominion Theatre. Tho Mayor, Alcssrs Evans and O’Connor were appointed a committee to make arrargements. It was agreed to follow the usual custom of allowing tho surplus over expenses to go .to the Poppy Day Lund.

CLANDEBOYE. There was a large attendance of residents on Tuesday evening, to consider the committee’s report on tho construction of tennis courts. Air AV. H. Staniland presided. The chairman stated that with the exception of the final top-dressing the laving down of the courts had now boon completed. Tho levelling and grading of tFm ,surrounding ground, and llio ! erection of fencing still required to be j done. The financial statement showed I that tho funds in hand, with subsidy on same, frero just about sufficient to meet present liabilities. A very hearty vote of thanks was accorded Alcssrs J. Donehuo and ,T. Siigrue, who had carted most of the necessary shingle free of charge. Mr J. J. Nolan intimated that Mr Daly was prepared to top-dress the emirts free of charge if the committee provided the material. The offer was accepted, and Air Daly was accorded a hearty vote of thanks. Regarding grading and levelling, it was decided to hold a working bee on tho ground on AVednesday, 13th, and several present offered tct give assistance. It was decided that an estimate shoe,ld bo procured for fencing, and that a concert and dance should bo held on April 29th to raise tho money ronuired.
