WOODLANDS STREET CHURCH.

SUCCESSFUL FAIR. ■ A successful “wheel-barrow” fair, conducted by the parishioners of Woodlands Street Methodist Church, was commenced yesterday afternoon. The fair was officially opened, in. the,.evening by tho Mayor (Mr G. J. TVallace), who expressed the hope that it would be a success. ■ The stalls were nicely decorated, being erected on wheel-burrows, and the ladies in charge report excellent Business. Various games and competitions helped to sustain amusement, hnd the largo crowd spent a very enjoyable time. , The stal's and the. ladies in charge were as follows :—Work stall, Mesdames Dewar, Butler, Dale and Edgar; flower stall, Mesdames Dawson and Clough; cake stall, Mesdames Dash, McNeil, and Short us; produce sta'l, Mesdames Jloseveai*, Sievwiight and Manger; jumble stall. Misses Eonwick and Jockson; sweets stall, Mesdames Butcher, Holland, Holdgate and Cook; refreshments, Mesdames Duggan, Brown find, assistants. By popular vote, the sweets stall secured first prize for tho best decorated stall. In the afternoon a disp'ay of cookerv was judged, the following being tho results; —Butter sponge, Mrs Cooke 1, Mrs Dewar 2; plain sponge. Mrs Dawson 1, Mrs Brown 2; scones, Mrs Beswick. 1, Mrs Jackson 2: butter sponge (children), Nancy Hurdlev 1, S. Butler 2; plain sponge, Miss Bievwright 1, Nancy Baker 2: scones, ERio Dingwall 1, Nancv Hurdley 2. Edith DeJoux 3. A special prize was awarded to Du'cie Davis for tarts.

A competition for a large iced cake was held during the evening, and this was secured hv Mr Sievwright.' The fair will be continued this afternoon and evening, when a baby show and n mock court should prove great attractions.
