REPORTS ON CRIME.
To tho Editor of tho “Timaru Herald.’’ Sir,—'“Conscience” publishes a protest with which any right-thinking person must agree. Some yeans ago I wrote privately to “Tile Herald” asking if it were necessary to publish such repulsive details of crimes, and was told tlmfc the messages were sent by tlm Press Association and were published witli all other news from tho same source. It is therefore the Press Association which should receive our protest. 'The AVomen’s Christian Temperance Union of New Zealand has been working in this direction for some time. Lot oilier public , bodies and individuals who feel strongly on the matter, back them up.—l am, etc., L. B. BISHOP. Pleasant Point-, October 9.
