A slander action was beard at the Reoftou Magistrate's Court yesterday, when Thomas Phillips, solicitor. proceeded against Constable Carroll, claiming 11200 as damages. It was alleged that defendant used bad language and said that Phillips should be hounded oof of town. Defendant denied the charges. Mr W. Mclcimni. S.M.. decided ibat. the language was defamatory, hut- that little damage had been done to Phillips. Judgment was given for £2O damages with costs.
